Myriam Latulippe
Myriam is a M. Sc. student doing her master’s degree in astrophysics at Université de Montréal under the direction of Dr. Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo. She’s studying the feedback of a supermassive black hole in the galaxy cluster MACS J1447.4+0827, which is an intermediate redshift cluster (z=0,37). To achieve this goal she is searching for x-ray cavities (with Chandra data), radio jets and mini-halo (with JVLA data) around the brightest cluster galaxy. Prior to her graduate studies, Myriam achieved a bachelor’s degree in Physics at University de Montréal. She is also interested in science outreach and did a few astronomical workshops for children and general public. Since 2013 she is working at the Planetarium Rio Tinto Alcan has a scientific communicator.
Myriam is working on AGN feedback in galaxy clusters. More specifically she is studying a massive cluster at intermediate redshift names MACSJ 1447.4+0827, one the most x-ray bright cool core cluster and harbor an extreme Brightest Cluster Galaxy (BCG). To learn more about AGN feedback she uses x-ray data from the space telescope Chandra and radio data from the JVLA to observe structures associated with an active supermassive black hole in the BCG. Those structures are mostly x-ray cavities, radio jets and a mini-halo.
