Dr. Mar Mezcua
Mar is an astrophysicist at Université de Montréal since September 2015. Before that she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (Cambridge, Massachussetts) and at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (Tenerife, Spain). She completed her PhD in just 3 years at the Max-Planck-Institute for Radioastronomy (Bonn, Germany).The aim of her research is to understand how supermassive black holes form and grow and how this growth affects the galaxy itself. To do this, she investigates a wide range of astronomical objects (intermediate-mass black holes, radio jets, ultraluminous X-ray sources, active galactic nuclei, galaxy mergers, supermassive binary black holes) following a multiwavelength approach (radio, optical, infrared, and X-ray observations).
