The advective evolution of magnetic fields

This is an animated version of Figure IV.2.4 and IV.2.5, in the form of color-coded fieldlines (as on Fig. IV.2.4) overlaid on an intensity image of the net unsigned magnetic field strength (as on Fig. IV.2.5). The solid green dots are floaters, which provide tracers of the underlying kinematic flow. The normal field at the boundary is held fixed. The solution is followed over one turnover times.
