Improved 3D Fabry-Perot Data Reduction Techniques

This data reduction package can be used to process Fabry-Perot. The full IDL source code can be downloaded in tgz format. This code makes use of the IDL astrolib library. To read the installation instruction, go there.

The user manual is available here (only in french for now, the english version will come shortly).

The file voronoi_3d_fast.pro included in the package is the implementation of the adaptive smoothing algorithm. It makes use of the supplied baryc Dynamic Lodable Module. This module can be compiled by running make in the package directory.

These data reduction techniques were used for the processing of the SINGS H-Alpha Kinematics survey, the Big H-Alpha Kinematics Sample of  Barred Spiral Galaxies and the Virgo cluster H-Alpha survey using the FaNTOmM integral field spectrometer.

Figure 1 :Comparison of the 2D rotation velocity maps of NGC 5055 at the center of the galaxy with different smoothing algorithms. Top left : No smoothing. Top right : Gaussian 6x6 kernel. Bottom left : Adaptive smoothing, target SNR of 7. Bottom right : Bin sizes obtained with the adaptive smoothing
